During Meckler Media’s 3D Print Week New York, Materialise (NASDAQ: MTLS), a leading provider of additive manufacturing (AM) software and sophisticated 3D printing solutions, will showcase their latest solutions for the consumer, medical and industrial markets. In addition, Materialise is sponsoring the 3D Print Fashion show, during which one of the first full-length evening gowns to be printed as one piece will be unveiled. The dress is designed by the celebrated Malaysian designer Melinda Looi and Griffith University’s Samuel Canning, and 3D printed at Materialise headquarters in Leuven, Belgium.
Materialise has been a supporter of the Inside 3D Printing Conference and Expo since it began in 2013. The conference features two days of sessions led by industry experts and demonstrations of the latest 3D printers and services.
For the closing keynote, Peter Leys, Executive Chairman of Materialise, will discuss the “Killer Apps of 3D Printing” and the ways in which 3D printing can make a real difference in the way we live today. The Materialise team will also be present throughout the conference and 3D Design Show, showcasing leading software solutions for connecting applications to 3D printers as well as the latest in solutions and services for the consumer, medical and industrial markets.
3D Print Week New York will also feature the 3D Print Fashion Show, sponsored by Materialise and curated and directed by Natacha Alpert, Founder, MIRAS3D and Consultant for Footwear & Apparel, 3D Printing Technologies. The Fashion Show on Thursday, April 16 at 5:30 pm ET will unveil veteran fashion designer Melinda Looi’s second 3D printed collection. Created in collaboration with Samuel Canning and 3D printed by Materialise, the collection includes a number of pieces, including one of the world's first full-length evening gowns to be printed as a single part. This design differs from other 3D printed dresses in that it is flexible and moves with the person wearing it. The collection was printed at Materialise’s headquarters in Belgium using the latest in 3D printing technology and software and came out of the machine fully assembled.
