The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is a pivotal member of Materialise's executive leadership team, responsible for driving a people-first strategy that supports our mission of creating a better and healthier world through innovation in 3D printing. The CHRO will shape and lead the global HR agenda across talent acquisition, leadership development, organizational culture, compensation and benefits, and HR operations, ensuring alignment with Materialise's strategic goals.  

Job description

The CHRO will also play a critical role as a member of Materialise's Executive Committee to drive our strategic agenda throughout the company. This role oversees a global HR team of 40 professionals and is directly responsible for the well-being and engagement of 2,500 employees across 21 countries and 28 offices worldwide, ensuring alignment with Materialise’s strategic goals. We are seeking a CHRO for a permanent role but are also open to receiving applications from experienced freelancers who are available for a shorter-term engagement.

What you will do

Strategic leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global HR strategy aligned with Materialise’s mission, vision, and growth objectives
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on people-related matters, organizational effectiveness, and the high-performance executive team
  • Lead long-term workforce planning, change management, and organizational development initiatives to support Materialise`s global expansion

Culture & talent development:

  • Foster a purpose-driven, inclusive, and high-performance culture across all levels of the organization
  • Oversee global learning and development strategies, including executive coaching, succession planning, and career pathing
  • Play a key role in shaping and reinforcing the company's culture and core values

HR global operations:

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR systems, processes, and technologies to support scalability and operational excellence
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements in all operating regions
  • Build and lead a high-performing global HR team, fostering collaboration and promoting alignment and accountability

Compensation & total rewards:

  • Design and oversee competitive, equitable compensation and benefits programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent globally

Organizational agility & change :

  • Guide the organization through periods of transformation, M&A, restructuring, or rapid growth with a strong people-first approach
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement, internal communication, and organizational resilience, ensuring Materialise remains a great place to work

Your profile

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including 5+ years in a top executive HR role within a complex, global organization
  • Demonstrated success leading people strategy during periods of rapid growth, transformation, or global expansion
  • Deep understanding of global labor laws, talent development, and compensation governance, with a passion for fostering diverse and inclusive work environments
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels of the organization
