1. Server requirements

1.1 Recommended Server Hardware

• 2GHz Dual Core Xeon Class CPU+
• 4GB RAM+ (depending on OS requirements)
• 80GB Hard Disk Drive with redundancy (e.g. RAID1, RAID5)
• Redundant power supplies
• Gigabit Network + 1 static IP
• Physical or virtual server (Hyper-V, VMware etc.) – use VM equivalent of server hardware.

1.2 Server Software Requirements

• Windows Server 2012 R2 (x86 or x64) Standard, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022
• All available service packs and updates
• Local administrator account
• Network connectivity to PACS and workstations (80, 104, 443, 4104) - additional ports may be required depending on configuration.

1.3 Items Added to Server during Installation

• Internet Information Services (IIS) 8.0+
• ASP.NET 3.0, 3.5 or 4.5
• Java JRE 1.8+
• Jetty

1.4 Zero Footprint Server Prerequisites

• Server: Windows Server 2012 R2 (all available service packs and updates), Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022
• Hard Disk Drive: 80GB with Redundancy (e.g. RAID1, RAID5)
• RAM:
  • 1-5 concurrent users:
    • 6GB RAM (virtual or physical)
  • 5-20 concurrent users:
    • 14GB RAM (virtual or physical)
• CPU:
  • 1-5 concurrent users:
    • 2 CPU cores (virtual or physical)
  • 5-20 concurrent users:
    • 4 CPU cores (virtual or physical)

Note: We recommend installing OrthoView on its own dedicated server or virtual machine.

2. Client Requirements

2.1 Minimum Client System Requirements

• 1GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, 2GB free HDD Space
• Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11 (x86 or x64)
• Vertical screen resolution of 1024 pixels or greater (e.g. 1600x1200)
• Java JRE 1.8+ (Depending on deployment)
• Internet Explorer 11, Edge, Chrome
• Network connectivity to the OrthoView server (80, 104, 443, 4104) additional ports may be required depending on configuration.

2.2 PACS Requirements

• DICOM conformance to support C-ECHO, C-FIND, C-MOVE, C-STORE, Study Level Retrieve, Series Level Retrieve, Image Level Retrieve
• Modality connection required on PACS to allow OrthoView server to Query, Retrieve and Store images (PACS supplier may charge for this)
• If OrthoView is to be launched from a PACS viewer you will also require admin access to the configuration of such a viewer and further instruction should be obtained from the PACS supplier (PACS supplier may charge for this).

Further, Meridian Technique Ltd maintains quality and regulatory accreditation and product certificates to allow OrthoView to be used globally, including in the United States.

DICOM Conformance

OrthoView software is able to read and write DICOM Part 10 media files. Through integrated PACS client software, OrthoView is able to query a DICOM archive, retrieve DICOM images and save the results of planning and templating back to the DICOM archive. Some versions of OrthoView are also able to query, receive and send images over the DICOM network. DICOM images originating from CR or DX modalities can be displayed in OrthoView. Where relevant, greyscale, single-frame images from other modalities can also be displayed in OrthoView.

OrthoView DICOM output is in the form of color — or optionally monochrome — Secondary Capture Images, which can be viewed on any standard DICOM viewer. Two types of images are produced:

• A single original image containing a textual record of the OrthoView session, including details of the operator, planning results, and templates used.
• One image per original X-ray with templates burned in in color or white.

If a report image is opened in OrthoView itself, the full planning session is regenerated, allowing the operator to resume working where it was left off.

OrthoView has an extensive set of configuration options to ensure that the generated images are easily identified and selected on any PACS viewer.

OrthoView offers a wide range of procedures in one package, including joint replacement, deformity correction, and fracture management of all body parts. It also includes a pediatrics and spine assessment module.

Intelligent templates are not mere image overlays like most templates in other software. Intelligent templates ensure that multi-component templates always move as one complete system. This is particularly beneficial when templating for a revision hip, revision knee or using a fracture nail, or fracture plate, where an implant system consists of several components such as offsets, adapters, or screws. Intelligent templates avoid the end-user needing to add and align each individual component separately. Moreover, the intelligent templates contain compatibility information that only permits interactions as per manufacturer specifications and prevents the template component to be matched with incompatible components and size options. This ensures reliable results.

OrthoView templates are delivered to each user automatically through a cloud delivery service. This means that the end-user does not need to manually download them from a separate website. Maintaining the template library is effortless for the end-user because the template library is managed by OrthoView and updates can be seen instantaneously.

There is a wide range of automation in different workflows. The most apparent is the automatic detection of calibration markers and bony landmark detection to aid clinical measurements, automatic implant sizing, and automatic implant positioning. Finally, the report is automatically generated.

OrthoView can seamlessly integrate with all major PACS systems including Intellispace and VUE PACS from Philips, Synapse from Fuji, AGFA, GE Centricity, Change Healthcare, Merge PACS by Merative, Opal-RAD Viztek PACS by Konica Minolta, InSight PACS by Insignia, Aspyra, and many more.

Through the Materialise Academy, Materialise provides self-learning articles, tutorial videos, and webinars, which can be freely accessed. In addition, Materialise’s Application Specialists offer both remote and onsite OrthoView training for the end-users and administrators. Training on calibration marker positioning is also offered to x-ray technicians to ensure accurate scaling.

Technical support is offered to ensure appropriate software configuration, architecture, smooth implementation, maintenance, and upgrades.
